WEEK THREE
In this week, the team begins designing the prototypes.
The pictures above show the team members in the process of constructing the prototype box.
In this week, the team started off by creating the first two prototype boxes for the mechanical creeper, a 21 x 21 x 15 inch cube plywood box and a 20 x 20 x 20 centimeter cube prototype box made from carton. The team selected the sizes of the boxes based on estimation of the size of the prototype mechanical arm to be produced in the subsequent weeks. The prototype depicts what the actual box will look like and what form it will take for the electrical components of the box to be housed properly.
Furthermore, the team deliberated on what side of the box to be left opened for the arm to protrude. There have been two major ideas so far;
1) The top side of the box should be designed in way to facilitate the protrusion of the arm with the top slab parted into two and opens sideways from the middle
2) One of the sides that will be facing the victim should be made flexible in such a way that hinges will be used to attached the wooden slab to the box on its upper edge.
For this reason, the team scheduled a time to meet outside class hours to finalize and make a decision.
